Here's a question that I need help with..

I have been counting my calories and limiting myself to 1500 calories per day. I lost weight initially but this seems to have slowed and also I am not as strict anymore with this so wanted to try something new.

The 5:2 book I read says to consume a quarter of your normal calorie intake and for a bloke this is 600. Now if i have been only having 1500 then should I be consuming 325 as this is a quarter of what I have been having? Or do I reduce to 600 as the book says?

Let me know your thoughts...
I took this to mean a quarter of the calories you should be eating normally ie for your weight and height (not what you eat when dieting). Average 2500 for a man and 2000 for a woman I think. You will find a calculculator to work this out in the FAQ section (TDEE - total daily energy expenditure.)

I would go with 600 if you dont get round to doing that.
You need to eat more on feed days or you will slow your metabolism. Work out your TDEE and eat 25% or less of that on fast days but try to average around TDEE on feed days. You are not meant to be dieting every day just twice a week!
Hi

Thanks for the replies.

Just found a TDEE calculator and entered my details. These are the figures:-

Basel Metobolic rate = 1710
TDEE = 2450

I was only on about the 2 fast days being a quarter.

So with this information in mind I will base my calories on fast days at 600. This will be 900 less than I have typically eaten on a given day.

For the remainder of my days I will eat as I want and not count calories.

Does this sound right?

Thanks
