Have you lost any inches from your waist? I didn't lose any weight weeks 2 and 3. You lose a lot of water the first week...stick with it, it isn't a quick fix, but I'm sure the scales will soon show the loss.

I agree - definately measure all your bits! Losing inches is a great boost, especially when the scales don't budge. I'm sure they'll move again next week x

I didn't lose any weight weeks 2 or 3 either.
I am now only going to weigh myself monthly.
I feel I have lost this week, but will have to wait till I dig my scales out of my wardrobe on Sunday.
Don't be discouraged. If we stick with it we're bound to get there eventually.

Hi everyone!

I'm pretty new to 5:2 and despite losing 4lbs on my first week, my weight has also stalled on weeks 2 and 3. Quite relieved to know that I'm not the only one! Will keep sticking with it and hopefully next week I'll see a result

Thanks for replies, l really want to through the scales out as have also lost 2 inches off my waist, however my Doctor (in Denmark) has said that l can have a tummy tuck if l lose 15 kilo (33lbs) so a long way to go. l am not looking for a quick fix as there are many diets out there...but l can live with this diet fasting 2 days a week, so l hope & pray this is the one for me forever!!! good luck to you all. xxx
Any advice greatly appreciated, maybe l should try 4.3???

Hi all,
Well I've now been doing 5:2 since the begining of January. I lost about 4lbs the 1st week and thought it would be a "fast" fasting way of eating but it's not - generally you lose around 1 pound a week, but that's on average. After the first week I didn't lose any the 2nd and 3rd weeks and I think I even put some on in 1 week. I was quite demoralised! But I've stuck with it and now I'm down by about 8lbs, but some weeks I'll lose loads and then others, I seem to stagnate. Stick with it - hopefully it will work in the long term!

Good luck!

Woo-hoo! Week 4 and I've dropped 1.5lbs! So glad I stuck with it :)

I've also started to incorporate exercise this week to help shift those last pounds and help tone a little.

Good luck everyone!

Hi - I have stayed the same for the last 3 weeks - I have been doing the plan for 5. Wish i had measured myself at the very beginning, as i think my clothes feel a little easier - I have lost around 6 pounds in total which is good I think. I will def stick with it as I am finding it doable and for the long term health benefits - though i read today quite a bit cynisism is now being voiced, especially as the book has been launched in the States and has gone straight to no 2 in the chart over there.
