Not so much feast day....

....more all day banquet!!! Loving the fast days (have done 3) feel great on them, but come the other five days I'm like a woman possessed cramming as much food in as I can and feeling rubbish afterwards:-(. How do I get out of this mindset?

I was like that in the beginning too.
I started on jan 13, and now I don't have the problem.
My habit of snacking has gone, and my desire for good healthy foods has increased.
As many have said I've become much more aware of the calorific value of all the foods I previously thought were harmless and healthy....most of them my favourite things i.e carbohydrates.
I am still enjoying lots of goodies on non fast days. Maybe just a bit fewer of them.
I'm quite sure you will settle down. There has been a lot of discussion on this subject, and most have found that this tends to happen in the beginning and become less as time goes on.
Good luck.

Its odd. My stomach did used to feel very strange on the first feed day after a fast. I thought it was hunger but would feel full after eating. It would last most of the first day. Eventually I discovered the feeling was actually because my stomach was too full. I started to cut down my breakfast portion size and now my stomach feels better.

Have not had the bingeing experience but this may be because I had not been on a diet for several years so was not feeling deprived, hence on feed days I was not feeling the need to eat formerly forbidden foods (I had been eating them all along...which is why I was obese).

I have, however, found my desire for sweet things has reduced. So, give it time and I think your eating patterns will change.

Don't panic Kebyss. I think you will natuarlly get out of this habit. I have been on 5:2 for 7 weeks now and slowly I am finding that I really am changing my eating habits on a feed day. I have never stuggled with my fast days either but have previously felt like on a feed day I was either still in my old calorie counting, slightly paranoid way of eating or going the other way and having massive takeaways and lots of booze. Now I'm settling into more of a rhythym I am eating better on my feed days, not because I'm forcing myself but because I want to. I ignored OH's chips the other night and yesterday I wanted a sweet snack and really needed grapes whereas previously I'd have gone straight for the biscuits. Trust me, that has never happened before!!
I feel that if you relax about it and listen to your body things will improve without you having to force it. You know that you can have those things if you want, but you ask yourself do you REALLY want them? 9 times out of 10 it's no you don't really want it, it's just there but that 1 in 10 when you really, really want it? That's when you have it, without guilt :-)

It's true, the munchies phase passes. I went into Asda after an exercise class and got the thing I was craving, a nice bag of salad last week.

Had cake and Indian meal out today though!
