TDEE - Help
04 Mar 2013, 12:20
Hi

I've just done my TDEE and it comes out at 2219

So I multiplyed this by 7 (days) and took off my 2 fast days = 14533

Do i then minus 3500 (cals) in order to lose a pound a week then divide remaining figure by 5(days) = 2206

Is this what i should be eating on my feed days (seems an awful lot)

I'm only on my 3rd week but have been eating 1600cals on feed days
First week i lost 3lb's
Second week i gained 1.5 lb's

Do you think this could be why i've gained because i'm not eating enough on feed days?

All Advise Welcome

It's hard to say. For me, those are the numbers I've been using and have had steady weight loss, apart from the week I cut calories on feed days when I didn't lose any, but I'm not you!

Mathematically it doesn't make sense but anecdotally eating more on feed days doesn't always mean less weight loss. Part of the problem is that your weight does not reflect day to day changes in energy intake. Another is the complex biology and psychology of dieting.

As you have had 3 weeks eating 1600 on feed days, why not try 3 weeks on 2000?

We could do with more self experimentation like this as we don't really know what the best advice really is!

5 * 2219 + 2 * 500 = 12095 eaten for the week

7 * 2219 = 15533

deficit = 15533 - 12095 = 3438 calories which is about your 3500 for a 1 lb/week loss.

Assumes eating 500 * 2 and TDEE * 5

Thanks Carorees & Phil T

PhilT your math makes sense and i thought there was already a defecit as it doesn't mention in any of the books i've read about taking off the 3500 cals to lose a pound. Yet this is the info i've been given on a facebook page.

I think in light of the fact i've been still in my Slimming World ways on food days i.e. eating all 0 fat and not touching cheese or sweets or puds etc and still stalling on the scales then this week i'm going to eat more freely - subtle changes such as normal greek yogurt not 0 fat greek yogurt and cheese on my spag bol and see how i get on! If this method fails then its back to the drawing board or rather - BACK TO THESE BOARDS FOR IDEA'S :)
Thanks again

Why are you taking off more calories? The fast days do that automatically. Just eat your 2219 on feed days
