Did my first fast today and so far so good. I watched the Horizon programme for the first time about an hour ago and was really impressed by Michael's results - not just the weight loss but his massive reductions in sugar levels and cholesterol. The problem I have is that at my doctors they are not very keen on me asking to have these done and I feel as though I am being a nuisance verging on a hypochondriac. Unfortunately money is a bit tight so I don't want to go down the route of paying privately. If I do manage to lose weight (my bmi is 31) does it follow that these readings get lower anyway? Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!
If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

It is highly likely that your blood tests will improve with weight loss but not guaranteed as we haven't enough data on this from the people who have been doing 5:2 for a while to be sure.
