Hi, l have to be honest l do like a couple of glasses of wine on an evening with my meal when l am feasting, however l do not have any when l am on fast...does anybody find that this effects weight loss as l stayed the same weight again this week but have eaten just the same.
Any advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks
I'd like to know too. I've planned my feast days to include the night that I play at Irish music sessions, during which I like to have one or two pints of Guinness.

My experience with alcohol on diets is that it tends to undermine my resolve and I end up eating even more than I normally would, plus the alcohol calories. My plan on Irish session night is to eat a bit less at dinner, to allow for the Guinness, which I'll drink later.
I normally have a couple of white wine spritzers with dinner, (not fast days) and I've lost every week.
I do stick at the 2 though, I don't want to risk getting the munchies :frown:
I have a glass or two of wine/beer and perhaps the odd whisky or cognac most feed day nights and it's no problem. You just need to be aware that it's "empty" calories and can soon add up if you drink a lot. It should also be noted that I'm a tall guy so they don't eat into my TDEE as much as they might for smaller people.
I'm sure alcohol on non fast days is fine, as long as you don't drink too much, first because of the empty calories and secondly because of the munchies it can induce (for me, with cheese..)
I've found since I don't drink on fast days I drink less on feast days too, a couple of glasses of wine is all I can manage now.
As long as you include the wine in your TDEE then I don't see why there should be a problem. Its one of the reasons why the 5:2 is attractive, you don't need to comppletely deprive yourself of things you enjoy.

I so agree with you Franglaise, so its all for the good
I can't drink in moderation so this is wonderful for me as it means the day of the fast, and the one before given the no calories after 6pm rules means it is at least 4 days off the Cider, normally now 5, aiming soon for 6 etc.

I do drink differently now when I do, it's not just Pints, but a couple then a gin & slim line tonic.

Yeah I know how it sounds!
Thanks for all your replies.
yes l thought it would be ok to have a couple of glasses. I dont count calories on feast as l thought that was the point but neither do l go mad, lets hope for a bit of weight loss this week, and also to the rest of you, happy fasting & feasting xxx
I think a little tipple of something that you fancy is OK on a fast day provided it's all part and parcel of the daily allowance of 25%. ;-)
I think I've had 1 unit or so (25 ml) of Whiskey with soda water on most Fast days. As far as I can tell I'm losing at about the rate defined for my demographic in the progress tracker and have no adverse effedssllsdlkj sdf slfkjsdk d ee hic!
