Down and up

I have been on the 5:2 diet for one month. I experienced spectacular weight loss in the first week but now I seem to be putting back on in the non-fast days what I have lost in the fast days, even though I an very careful not to over-indulge. Hence seem to have plateaued already. Is this normal and do others share my experience?

Hi Smithjohns

Yes, for people who have a big early loss, there is a plateau afterwards. I think the early loss is mostly water and in subsequent weeks the fat goes down and the water returns resulting in no net change. Measuring your waist can often reveal the fat loss. Have you tried that?

The FAQ are helpful too. It either seems to be a very slow loss or a bigger loss followed by a rebound from reading posts the last weeks.
