I came off holiday on Friday 1st March and weighed myself. I was 11st 6.8 lbs

I started this diet a week last Saturday (2nd March) where I fasted for this day.

On Sunday (3rd March) I ate as normal.

On Monday (a brand new week) I decided to set my fasting days as Mon and Thu so I fasted on Monday 4th March. I also weighed myself at the end of the day and was 11st 3.8 (3lbs less than the Sat 2nd March). I thought this looks promising.

I ate normal until Thurs 7th March where I fasted again.

I ate normal and drank a few beers Friday and had a weigh again this morning (11th March) and I am 11st 4.2 lbs.

So I have put on 1.2 lbs. How is this possible? Even when eating normally I haven't stuffed myself...

Any ideas?

Could this be that before I started this diet I used to only eat about 1500kcal a day and now on normal days I am eating closer to 2400?

If you've increased your food intake compared with what your 'normal' intake was then you are bound to gain weight. You may be cutting back by around 3600 cals a week with your fasts, but you have added an extra 4500 to your feed days, overall meaning you haven't decreased your intake, rather increased it - hence a weight gain.
As I read it you started out at 11 stone 6.8 lbs on the Friday and then on your last weigh in you were 11st 4.2lbs. So since the start of the diet you have lost over 2lbs. The average weight loss per week is 1 lb - so you are above average.
Read the forums and you will see you need to weigh yourself at the same time and be prepared for fluctuations after fast days simply because you are not carrying around undigested food.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there! Were you maintaining your weight on 1500 or still losing? You could get an idea of how many cals it would be safe to eat on a feast day by multiplying your 1500 by 7, taking the two 600 cal fast days off and then dividing the remainder by 5:

1500 x 7 = 10500 - 1200 = 9300/5 = 1860

I would try to keep to around 1800 on feast days for a couple of weeks and then see where you are.

You can also use the online TDEE calculators to see what your probable daily calorie requirements are (links in the FAQ).
I'm confused, you've gone from 11st 6.8 --> 11st 4.2. That's terrifc. It's the overall downward trend that's important. The body fluctuates in weight - up down same up up down same - all the time. I wouldn't worry.
More food results in more glycogen storage which has some water associated with it. 1500 kCal is low for a guy. I would think the 2400 would be a better approximation of your TDEE. Maybe hang with that for a couple of more weeks, then re-assess.
I also gained 1.lb in my first week and I didnt particularly over eat on the non fast days but i was so surprised as I 'feel' slimmer. So, I've read the best answer on this thread and going to give it a month as suggested and maybe change my weekly weigh day to one after a fast. I really want it to work, can't bare any more constant dieting!
