Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi anndav and welcome!

I have put together an FAQ (link in my signature below) which I hope will answer a lot of your questions. Please do check it out. There is also a frequently asked questions board where members have posted their own questions where you may find some answers and of course you are very welcome to post your own there! Someone will always be along to help you out fairly quickly.

It is certainly worth getting prepared for your first fast and to be aware that the first few fasts can be challenging. They improve very rapidly though until they are scarcely any bother at all. Having an idea about what suits your body in terms of when to eat your small number of calories and what to eat that will fill you up well is good too. I knew from the start that eating anything at all would set off the hunger pangs so I elected to fast all day and have a single evening meal. Others, however, know that they cannot cope without breakfast so they have a light breakfast. I prefer to have low carbs and a lot of vegetables to fill me up, others find they can eat carbohydrate OK. Of course, as you go on, you can experiment with different ways of doing things to see what suits you best.

Are you going to continue with WW or stop? If you are thinking of continuing, I would not try to combine a weight loss WW diet with 5:2 but to use a maintenance diet for your feed days and calorie count for your fast days.

Good luck with your journey...
