Hi everyone. I have been doing this diet for a little over a month now, and I find it easy most of the time. However, I often find myself dreaming about a specific food on my fast days, and the craving does not go away until I have it! Yesterday was a bad day. I made the poor choice of a fruit smoothie with greek yogurt for my 500 calorie meal. It did not fill me up or satisfy me in the least. I was hungry all day, and began dreaming of Belgian waffles, of all things.
Well, today was a feed day and I was going to go to breakfast to have one! But I was not able to find time as I had to go to work and was running late. All day, through my head was waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles. Finally I found some gourmet frozen waffles at Tom Thumb that were really good, but I pretty much spent all day thinking about them. Not cool. Anyone else experiencing this?
Hi zelda. Well done for keeping it up for a month. Do you eat your 500 kcal early in the day, or later in the evening?
I have been splitting it up into three meals for a while, until last week I started skipping breakfast, and had lunch around 3, and dinner at 6. Yesterday was the first time I had my calories all in one go, around 5:30.
I would recommend you keep away from fruit and other carbohydrate containing foods for fast day meals. I am sure anything sweet or high in carbs stimulates hunger. Fruit has the sugar fructose, milk the sugar maltose, I'm sure that was the cause of your cravings. I have found meals with even modest amounts of carbs leave me hungry shortly after eating them on fast days. The best meals (for me) are a small piece of fish with an enormous plate of mixed vegetables. I either stir fry them or roast them in the oven. I can't finish the plate often!
It was croissants for me! For the first 3 or 4 weeks on this plan, I craved them so much - couldn't stop thinking about them - and devoured loads of them on my feast days. Luckily I stuck to reduced fat ones, otherwise I would have put on a good few pounds I think! The good news is, the cravings subsided after a while, and I haven't had a croissant for a couple of weeks now. Don't worry - the cravings will subside eventually!
I think the fruit (pineapple and melon) that I had in my salad at lunch is what set off my carb-craving this evening. I went well over my calorie limit, eating bread with dinner.

I'm just getting started, so this was my second fast day. On the first, lunch was also a salad, but with vegetables mixed in rather than fruit. Didn't "need" bread with my soup that night at all!

Something to keep in mind for Thursday, I suppose.
Oh starmaker, I wish my cravings for croissants would go away! LOL

I think Carorees is right on the money here. :_)
I definitely do limit carbs on fast days usually. Most of the time I have a packet of salmon with a big salad, or have an egg white omelet or the like. That day I just made a BAD BAD decision! Lesson learned LOL!
I think I need to watch my sugar on my feast days too though, as eating a lot of sweets on my feast days makes me want them HORRIBLY on my fast days. I can't cut them out totally, oh no way
