Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Well done Herewegoagain - just lending my voice to those whose relationship with food is all screwy. I was giving up before I started this diet, but I'm starting to feel as though I'm gaining control over food, and myself, and the two combined, again. Hang in there! :like:
I think most of us have some sort of distorted relationship with food due to a number of factors: finish what's on your plate, you can't have dessert if you don't finish your meal, you can't be too thin or too rich, people are starving in Africa, and my personal favourite courtesy of my mother, you look just like me from behind but you aren't overweight Deb, having just spent the last 30 years telling me how fat she is. Thanks Mum!!

So I share your neurosis! BUT, we are in the fortunate position of being able to re establish that relationship and learn to readjust. I have been dieting most of my adult life and I am sick to the back teeth with it. I have just finished two twelve week programs where I have lost 7kg and have now stalled. I have severely restricted what I eat and am tired of it. I want my life back and no longer want to be told that I have to spend the rest of my life eating tiny amounts of dull food, that sacrifice is the only way to get where you want. And I don't want to work out what it has cost me per kilo!!

As Beeswax(!) said it's about gaining control over food and yourself; I think I can do that now. I had fish and chips tonight and didn't finish it all. That to me is a good start!
Thankyou you sane lovely people! And thanks so much for the link to the app.
Am fasting on day 2 now, and again am enjoying it.

Let me tell you my tales of binge eating...
...I used to do it A LOT!!!
But now with the 5:2, just because I know I can binge if I really want to and that it won't be that bad...
...I just don't feel like doing it.
Debs, Greek kids used to be bribed to finish their food!!!
