Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi,

I am 5 weeks in and had a good weight loss. I am eating lots of vegetables on fast & feed days, however l am so very tired. I have read that lots of people feel great and have loads of energy. I feel ok but am so tired all the time, and certainly dont have alot of energy.
I sleep really well, infact l have to say that l sleep much better since doing the diet but l am not over sleeping either. Does anybody else feel like this or have any advice??

Thanks
Jo
Also good luck to everybody on their healthy journey!!!
I often feel tired and cold on the mornings of fast days, but by afternoon I do seem to get a burst of energy. So I roll with it. I took a nap this morning, and now I'm heading out to run a bunch of errands and I'll probably do the treadmill this afternoon :-)
Thanks for your reply, yes l know what you mean with the cold, but the tiredness is all the time, not just fast days, maybe l need a good dose of vitamin C, xxxx he he he
The tiredness could be vitamin D related as we've not had a lot of sunshine in the last year. Another thing to keep an eye on is your water intake! On fast days I drink loads of water and feel really alert. Some feed days I realise I haven't drunk enough water and I feel tired - as soon as I have a nice glass of water it wakes me right up!

On the plus side of it though it does mean if I don't have a glass of water before bed I usually sleep pretty damn well :)
I do feel tired a lot of the time but that's nothing new :-( I always feel tired! If I could get a few good nights sleep I'm sure I'd feel better and since starting 5:2 my sleep has slowly been improving but still not had a good folk night of sleep for about 6 years. I blame the menopause.
Thank goodness I am not alone in this jojo1970. I have had three days when I could hardly keep my eyes open. Tiredness came in waves. One was at 11.30am and I was in a meeting!! That was on a fast day but I don't think that had anything to do with it as I had breakfast so not hungry. The other two were on normal days. I fell asleep as soon as I got home from work. Not done this before. I was about 8 weeks in when the first one hit me.
Rest of the time I have felt good and wide awake.
I keep falling asleep at lunch time while reading my book, fast days and feast days.

Maybe I need a more exciting book!

If you are feeling tired all the time perhaps you are eating enough on feed days? Remember you're not meant to be dieting on those days.
