Hello there,

Since today was my first non-fast day, I decided to try working out (1 hr - cardio/weight mix). After my workout, I felt weak, shakey and a little nauseous. I did eat breakfast that morning - a bowl of shredded wheat with milk (about 230 cal), plus a large glass of water. I did eat a granola bar shortly after my workout and felt better within about 10 minutes. Does anyone have this problem and should I keep doing the workout or should I eat more for breakfast before I workout?
Thanks so much!!
Shelly
Well that's classic low blood sugar, and a pretty small breakfast. Glad to hear it improved with the granola bar. A piece of fruit added to your breakfast might be all you need - a nice pear or banana or apple right before your workout is probably ideal.

Welcome to the forums!
I know I feel shakey after running before breakfast on a fast day, maybe you need to eat a little more before working out next time.
I went for a run early in the morning the day after my first fast day and I was shaking for ages! I'd had a banana before going out, but I think Tracey and Susan are right - we need bigger breakfasts.

From next week I'm going to try and run on fast days (as I'll have food in my system) and do strength and resistance on non-fast days. I'm not sure how solid the science behind that is(!) but I'll give it a go and report back if you like.
