On fast days I am typically having the following:-

Breakfast:-
Half a grapefruit
Medium apple

Lunch:-
Nothing

Dinner:-
Chicken salad or chicken sir fry (no rice)

Drinks:-
Green tea x2
Water

What I am really missing is a normal cup of coffee with about 40ml of semi skimmed milk.

Is this really bad to half a coffee with milk or do I simply deduct the calories of 40ml milk from my 600? Or does having something in the middle of the day throw the science out the window?
Just deduct the milk calories from your allowance. I always have skimmed milk with my tea - I don't think it throws any science out of the window, don't worry!
Hi, i have had a coffee with skimmed milk every morning, fast and feast days and have dropped 3 dress sizes in 7 months. Coffee for me is a pleasure i wouldnt want to do without.
I have tea with skimmed milk on fast days, It gets me through the day,
makes it more normal for me. xx
Hi Mdavenport,
We are the same and really can't do without milk in tea or coffee. So we have milk in that first cup of tea, and deduct the calories. Then we drink sparkling water with limes for the rest of the day as black coffee/tea is foul without milk!
So yes you can add s/s milk but it will cost you calories!
Since I like half and half (and sugar) with my coffee, I do without both on my fast days. Instead, I put some chai powder in my coffee. It's 17 calories - much less than the dairy and sugar, and it produces a fairly palatable drink. I still like the sugar and half and half better, but I can manage the sacrifice for two days.
How many calories is a typical cup of coffee with semi milk? At work I have 2 of those little cartons in a cup of coffee.

Also I like to have sweetener. Is this a 'no' on this diet as I heard sweeteners can do havoc with your hunger feeling?
Hi everyone,
First post here, just starting the program today. Kicking it off with a fast day.
Had a FW coffee this morning (large) and hankering for another now but think I'll go long black.

Found this useful site for calories in coffees. Hope it helps others count that milk properly. =)

Cheers, Doug
Thanks for that reminder!! yes, we forget how fattening that latte can be :-)
My morning mug of coffee is very important to me, and I'm more than willing to take it out of my daily allowance. I will sacrifice the calories from my 2 spoons of sugar (although I'm trying to cut down), and either the skimmed milk or Alpro Hazelnut milk from my overall 500, and it's totally worth it.

It's all about balance, and you have to decide what's important to you. Shuffling those allotted calories around so that you find a balance that works best for you and doesn't drive you insane can take some time, I suppose, but I know if I didn't get to have my tasty coffee (I can handle it black quite easily, but not without sugar as well) I'd be insane by 3pm.
