Hi,
My name is Tim, I am retired and live in SW France.
Have been overweight all my life, and six weeks ago started trying to stick to 1500 calories a day, using the Calorie Count web site to log my food.
Good success to date (nearly 10 kilos lost) but there are bad days where there are restaurant meals to negotiate, and also when I drink I get the munchies, and the 1500 line gets crossed big time!
A lot of friends are talking about the Fast diet, and say they are doing it. Have bought the 5:2 e-book and read it, and following a major splurge Friday decided to give it a go in conjunction with my CC diet.
Fasted Saturday, and am doing a second fast day today.
Weigh-in day is Wednesday mornings. Target weight loss according to CC is 51 kilos, which would take me down to 74.
Being a 'big' bloke not sure how attainable that is, but I am setting myself interim targets of 5 kilos each, and hoping to hit Target 2 this week.
Cheers - Tim

Hi, I live in Northern France and it is very hard to follow conventional diets here. I have been following 5:2 for a month now and it is fitting in well. I am finally enjoying eating out. I do not have much weight to lose but I do not want to gain which would be easy. Lots of information and support on this forum from around the world! Welcome

Good luck timsankey
We live in Burgundy and the weight has crept on over the past few years - difficult to cut back over here what with the good wine and bread! It is difficult to follow normal diet plans over here so we looked into IF.
Me and my OH half are now on the IF diet and going into the 3rd week and you do get used to the fast days quite quickly. I use Myfitnesspal to help me record my calories and finds it helps a lot.
Good luck on Wednesday for your weigh in - our's is tomorrow.:-)

Hi Tim

I would advise against combining 5:2 with calorie restriction on the non-fast days. The big difference between fast days and feast days is what gives this way of eating its effectiveness. You need to eat normally for your height and weight between the fasts. I have lost less weight on weeks when I under ate on feast days. Of course over eating on feast days will also stop any weight loss, but the "window" of optimal calories is fairly wide! If in doubt as to what is normal, find out your TDEE (link in the FAQ).

Bonne chance!

Hi Caroline,
I hear what you are saying, but I just don't trust myself to not go way over the top on feast days. Here's my plan. On my CC diet I can earn extra calories by doing exercise. There is plenty of gardening to do, and nice walks when the rain stops, so on feast days I will earn myself the extra calories to eat 2000 to 2500 a day. That way I should get the best of both worlds, and not slip from the path!
Cheers - Tim.
