Day 2 - Just Joined

Hi all,

Just popping in to say hello and glad to have found somewhere to have a general natter about the diet without boring my friends and partner! Currently 15st, aiming to get down to a more respectable 13st and pick up my general health a bit more.

Started yesterday, so I'm on Day 2 doing Mondays/Tuesdays. All seems a bit surreal, especially sat here drinking a cup of hot water with half an Oxo in it.

I'm a bit of a comfort eater, so feel like I'm finding this first session especially hard. The hunger hasn't been too bad to deal with, but not procrastinating by finding something to eat has been quite tough. Sure I'll get through it, but would be interested to hear from other people who suffer that particular issue.

Cheers.

Hi & welcome Steve :)

Well done on taking up 5:2, I'm sure you'll have no trouble shifting that couple of stone.

Is there any particular reason you've opted to do consecutive days - ie, due to other commitments during the week? Most of us who've tried consecutives find it too difficult, the second day can be less than pleasant! That's probably why Dr Mosley suggests doing the days non-consecutively if possible.

There are a few members who do the days back to back and don't struggle with it, but if you're finding it hard on this your 2nd day you might want to consider splitting your days up, so it's only ever one day of dieting at a time!

To be honest, I felt it might be best to get it out of the way in one go, that way I'm then clear until the following week. I.e. the pain of doing two days on the trot would be psychologically less than two separate full days, especially when(if) I got on top of it.

Also, I know a couple of other people doing the diet and they do it consecutively so that concept just kind of stuck as they were the first people I really spoke to about it.

I suppose the beauty is that if I do decide to split them, it doesn't affect the diet.

Hi Steve

Welcome from another newbie. I did my first fast day yesterday and must admit the thing that kept me going was the fact that I would be back on a "normal" day today. I'm planning on fasting Tuesdays and Thursdays, and to be honest, I'm quite looking forward to tomorrow, although I'm not sure I would have felt the same if I was fasting this morning!

Anyway, whatever you decide to continue with - Good Luck :-)

Thanks for the messages all. Just dealing with the morning after the fasting, surprisingly not particularly hungry so far.

Had a bowl of Rice Krispies, which I personally think I could have done without, but didn't want to mess too much with normal eating at this early stage.

Hi Pauline and welcome to the forum!

Please do have a read of the FAQ which should give you all the essentials.

By the way, I don't know if you know, but typing in capital letters is generally considered the equivalent of shouting in a forum...that's how I "hear" it when I read it. (Just thought I should mention it)

Good luck for Thursday!
