I have problems with emotional eating and am wondering if eating just one meal around 4 or 5 p.m. on fast days would be easier for me. I would appreciate any feedback on this.
Hi Marialuisa! Welcome to the forums :-)

That's how I do it -- one meal at about 6pm. I actually ate so little at dinner tonight (because I got full) that I had enough calories left for a yogurt just now.

I personally find that once I start eating during the day, I'm just a lot hungrier. For me it's not so much emotional eating as it's just the easiest way to control it. I have black coffee, water, and herbal tea during the day if I get hungry and it's enough :-)
I too eat only one meal in the evening on fast days and it works well for me as I can share dinner with the rest of the family. I find drinking lots of water and some black coffee gets me through the day easily enough. You might like to experiment if that's what suits you and if not, try something else instead. That's the great thing about 5:2, it's so adaptable to different lifestyles and people.

Welcome Marialuisa and good luck! :clover:
I'm getting used to one meal a day in the evening. I drink around 2 litres of sparkling water and have between 1 and 3 coffees - cant stand black so I take off up to 75 calories for the milk. Evening meals so far have been from the m and s feel fuller for longer range or just a big bowl of homemade vegetable soup (calories hard to count in this but I don't use any fat. Just onion, garlic, chilli, organic stock cube and the veg). Last night it was spicy carrot soup
Since I first started 5:2ing I have also only eaten in the evening on fast days. I find once I eat something it just kicks me into hunger mode. Also like Cholula I have recently been eating from the M&S feel fuller range with extra vegetables if the calories allow it.
Yes, same here. It's easier to control hunger if I don't have anything until dinner and then I've enough calories available to have a fairly normal meal with the family. I really think it has helped with emotional eating too because it breaks the link between feelings and food.

Good luck!
Me too, I would be quite nervous now about eating much on a fast day before the evening. I used to 'need' my food at 6:30pm but now I can leave it till later if that's how it works out at home.
I have to eat, this whole fasting thing I can't see it catching on!

Thanks to all of you! It's going well today. I ate a 100 calorie greek yogurt at 5 a.m. before going to work and I will eat a light dinner at 5:30 p.m. I think the one meal plan will work out better for me because any slight variation in blood sugar can trigger my eating.
