For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi, I was hoping to start tomorrow ( tues) after reading the book but I have guests arriving on Thursday and I'm not sure of our plans. They leave on Sunday so Monday is the day. I'm a night shift worker. Does anyone have any advice on their night shift experiences?

Cheers

Kate

Currently 85kgs and 164cms

Yeah, we'll I wrote this above and then weighed myself today, Tuesday 29th January. Well, I'm 86.7kgs!! That gave me a real scare. I'm now heavier than when I had gastric banding surgery 4 years ago ( I only every lost 7 kgs, it didn't work for me because I' m a food addict and will ignore full feelings). So, I've started today. Just had oats so simple porridge made with water and a small mango. Here we go......no night shifts till next week. Cheers all and hi to all other Aussie battlers ;))
Hi Kate
I just started last Thursday second fast day tomorrow. It is not that hard especially when ou know you can eat soon. I live in Sydney too. Good luck with it

Hi Tupelo

I think if you are a night-shift worker you need to adapt the diet to suit your circumstances. Try to aim for a 36 hour period in which you only consume 500 (women)/600 (men) calories (2000/2500 kJ). Or try to have 24 hours with no calories/joules at all. If you are looking to lose weight then the overall calories you have over the weeks/months will determine whether you lose weight. For the other health benefits, the longer you can go without any energy intake the better.

I'm sure there are other shift workers following this way of eating so hopefully they will pop along and give you some tips!
