Time to make a change!!
28 Jan 2013, 14:41
Hi - My name is Debbie and today is day 1 on this new way of eating for me.
I am going to fast on Monday and Wednesday and have 1 meal in the evening. I hope this is going to work for me as I am usually very busy on these days and hopefully won't be distracted by my rumbling tummy!! Its great to have a forum like this to read all the success stories and the motivational comments. Don't need to lose too much - 12 lbs but at 54 it seems much harder and its all sitting round my middle and backside!!
Would like to lose some body fat too!! - not asking for too much then!!
I am going to weigh myself every two weeks as after reading other posts it seems better that way. Let you know how I get on - Good luck to all you other newbies out there!!

Hi Debbie! I just started this diet (to me, diet is just what I eat.... not just a lose weight kind of diet) today too. So far so good. Hope it goes well for you :)

Hi. Also starting this way of eating today as well. (I don't like the diet word! I had a 200 cal omelette this morning and plan on having a stir fry tonight. I haven't read the book but watched the programme and read a short 'how to' in this week's Radio times. In that it says you can split the 500 cals into 2 meals? But does that give the same results?

Hi catgirl

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, we think having two meals does give the same weight loss results as only having one meal (it's what Dr Mosley does after all). The experts Dr M spoke to when making his Horizon programme think that a longer fast is better for the other benefits (repair mode, cancer risk etc) but so much of the benefits comes from weight loss that if two meals a day is easier for you than one, then go for two (or more even).

There are studies underway at the moment to investigate a single meal vs splitting the calories.

Thanks. I know lots of people can manage without breakfast and some find eating it makes them hungrier, but for me I need to start the day with some food however small. I haven't eaten anything now for nearly 7 hours now and I'm not hungry although my tummy is growling a bit! Looking forward to my stir fry later!

Thanks for your support - Just about to eat a ready meal from Waitrose which has 320 calories and going to have some green beans and peas to make up to 450 calories. I reckon I have had the other 50 cals from my cups of tea with semi-skimmed milk. Got to admit I am very hungry now as not have had anything since dinner last night at 7pm.
Feel ok just a very rumbly tummy!!

Hi all, day one for me today too! Don't think I could go all day with just one meal in the evening so had 2 poached eggs for breakfast and just had lovely vegetable chilli with a little bit of brown rice. Not counted 100% as I didn't weigh all the veg but about 500 I hope! Have had lots of water, black coffee and fruit tea to drink through the day. All in all a success for day one and actually looking forward to second fast day on Thursday! Good luck to all who have started today - here's to being healthier, happier and slightly smaller in a few weeks!!
