Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

New to this but not new to dieting...should never have started all those years ago as teenager when I was two and a half stone lighter! Anyway, having seen the program last year and shillyshallied, am starting this new year in hope and first week yielded a pound. Five months to go till a wedding so should hopefully shift most of the flab by then.

Hi Hellen and welcome :) I think many of us here have been in the same situation - tried all sorts of diets, used to be so much lighter. I'm sure 5:2 will change the way you eat and will bring great results in time for the wedding!

Since August I've lost 33lbs - that's been, what, almost six months? I'm sure if you stick with it you'll do much the same!

Welcome I only started last week so am on my 3rd fast day today. Have just joined a website called www.fatsecret.co.uk seems a really easy site to use to record calorie intake on fast days, I find it a lot easier than myfitnesspal, which I know a lot of people use, worth checking out to help keep you focused on fast days. Good luck with your journey.

I use that website too. The app is pretty good too except that it throws a wobbly when you try to enter a recipe you have saved so I have to go into the site via the phone's internet browser.

This is my very first fast day and I am less hungry than I expected. I've opted to have all my 500 calories at dinner time (in for a penny...) and am surviving on green tea. My partner is also giving it a go but claims he feels faint....is that just a man thing?!

Hi Nic and welcome

Glad you are finding your first fast OK. Re your OH, I think some people are more sensitive to changes in blood sugar and I think some people's bodies are not so good at changing to fat burning during the first few fasts so they can feel a bit light-headed, but I also think that it is partly psychological too. Learning that you can miss a meal or two without any dire consequences is a big breakthrough for people starting the 5:2 way of eating.

Good luck to both of you, and tell your partner it definitely gets easier, we guarantee it!
