Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hello everyone

Hi there,
My name is Sarah and I have been following this diet for about a month. I lost 2 stone last year just by going on a controlled calorie diet and getting plenty of exercise. The weight started to creep up again, especially over Christmas, I am a complete chocoholic! I only put on half a stone back but this was enough to make me want to get back control. The thought of going on another diet where I had to deny myself all the lovely things again made me want to cry, so when I heard about this diet I thought I would give it a try. I have had the flu recently so haven't eaten very much anyway, but now I am better I am making a proper go of it. I haven't seen the documentary but I have read enough on the Internet to get the gist of what it was about.
I don't need to lose much more weight now but think it is great way to live as I am one for letting my weight creep up and up and I feel that by doing this I can control that!
Anyway, I'll stop wittering on, looking forward to meeting you all,
Sarah xx

Hi Sarah

Welcome to the forum.

I have just been reading a lot about how once we have lost weight our bodies conspire to make sure we take on a lot more food than we need for our new weight and so we put the weight back on. I have just spotted a sentence that said that the brains of people who were successful at keeping the weight off were similar to people who were fasting! I haven't finished reading yet but this, together with the fact that most people on this diet find their appetite is decreased after fasting and their taste for high calorie foods is reduced might mean that this IS the right way to keep the weight off!

Good luck with your 5:2 journey!
