Hi I am new to 5:2fast diet downloaded book last night and have been really excited currently doing slimming world over the past 3 weeks but with two kids find it tough and getting fed up cooking and eating meat so going to give this a go and started fasting today. At a marks and spencer count on us sandwich at 295 cal can anyone tell me does it matter if u cook the food ur self or is it okay to buy pre made meals as long as sticking within cal.

Thanks

Hi Givingitago!

Ready made food or cook it yourself, doesn't matter which as long as you don't go over the calorie allowance on your fast days.

Good luck!

Came across another post and said it is better to leave 16 hrs straight between meals is that the case or not also had several cups of tea and coffee roughly how many cals in them, thanks for your support

I think you can find much more filling food for 300 calories than a diet sandwich though! Tonight I have steak and veggies for a similar amount.

Good luck

No one knows really what the best gap between meals is, but generally it is thought that the longer the better (up to a point obviously). However, they think that you will still get good results with shorter gaps. There are some that say it is good to confine your eating to a small "window" of time each day and different size windows are proposed. So, anyway, I think have some more food tonight (the approx 200 cals you seem to have left), fairly early and then don't eat again until breakfast tomorrow.

Next fast, change things around and see what works for you (i.e., breakfast and dinner or just dinner or lunch and dinner). The flexibility of this diet is great!
