Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

As a newcomer to dieting I am turning to this one in desperation having put on 1stone due to menopause and the inability to recognise myself. Any tips gratefully received

Hello and welcome!

There are quite a lot of us in the same menopausal boat! The good news is that if you have not dieted before, the weight should come off more easily. Plus some think that the menopause symptoms appear to have been eased by fasting.

The best place to start on the forum is to look at the FAQ here.

Good luck!

that's interesting, I do hope some of the symptoms ease as I am hitting rock bottom, must have the majority of symptoms so there is only one way to go and that is up!

Just one word of warning, the night after a fast you may well have insomnia. The slight stress on the body from fasting which brings so many benefits leads to increased alertness so getting to sleep is harder. When added to the nighttime menopause issues it can be tough!

For me it was really bad the first few fasts but now I sleep ok on fast nights and on other nights I am sleeping better than I have for years! I actually slept solidly for nearly 6 hours last night which after years of waking every 2 hours is fantastic!

Thanks for that Caroline, now you come to mention it I did my first fast on Tuesday and couldn't sleep last night. I am having my second day of fasting today so we shall see how we go.
