Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi

This is my third week of 5:2, finding it fairly easy, easier than other diets. Only issue I seem to be facing is as a migraine sufferer I keep having them :( trying to persevere with this and am hoping my body will adjust :)

Onwards and upwards.

Hi there

Just a quick note to welcome you to the forum. Can't write much...trying to welcome all the newbies plus typing on my phone is such a pain!

I think most people have found the headaches go with time. Dr M thinks dehydration still the most likely cause even if you think you are drinking a lot.

Good luck with your 5:2 journey!

Thanks Caroline, I will try and keep this in mind, it probably doesn't help that I suffer with migraines anyway.... I really want them to go away, as I feel capable of actually following this plan and feeling like I have achieved something :) thanks for taking the time to reply personally to me

Hi Lisy, welcome.

I never suffer from migraines but I have experienced headaches while fasting. It's occurred to me that I tend to grind my teeth / clench my jaw when I'm hungry... and having noticed, I've consciously tried not to, and that's helped with the headaches. So if it's tension that triggers yours, maybe worth paying attention?

Just my thoughts - as Caroline said, good luck on the journey!

Thanks Susanne, it may be down to tension not entirely sure, interesting how you grind your teeth / clench your jaw when your hungry, I will on Monday check out to see if I am unconsciously doing anything that may contribute to my headacke.

Kind regards :)

Hi,

I watched the Horizon programme on fasting with interest. Anything that aims to keep me fit and healthy for as long as possible sounds good to me (I'm a nurse so I'm surrounded by the unwell!). I've already reached my target weight, but I'm hoping to maintain it whilst still enjoying the occasion treat. Looking forward to meeting you all.
