For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

New Member - Hello!!

Introducing myself as requested!! I have been counting calories for just over 2 weeks and have lost 6lbs .... I started out at 15.5 stone (not good at all as only 5ft 3", so it's an urgent situation!!) I am currently limiting myself to 1400 calories per day, and I rarely drink alcohol so that's not an issue, but the occasional craving for a sausage roll rears it's head (haven't got a sweet tooth, savory all the way!!) so now I am ready to give this a go .... in fact, some days, I am struggling to get to 1400 calories now, so am hoping it won't be too bad (??) to stickto 500 2 days a week ...... am initially I shall be relying on my homemade pea and ham, carrot and coriander or leek and potato soups!!!

Anyone got any special tricks or tips for a newbie?

Hi there

Just a quick note to welcome you to the forum. Can't write much...trying to welcome all the newbies plus typing on my phone is such a pain!

There is a thread of tips and tricks running at the moment - have a wander round the forum and you'll spot it!

hi EK- welcome- I have only just been doing this for a week now and am really enjoying it! I find having porridge and berries in the morning and then the evening meal works really well for me and my partner- we drink a lot during the day and just keep busy!!! let us know how you get on- good luck- ursula
