Hi,

I have been been following the 5:2 diet since October. I actually didn't think that I needed to lose weight as I had a 'normal' BMI, I did it purely for the health benefits but I have lost around 10lbs and I can see that I am all the better for it.

This way of eating is likely to be a way of life for me, permanently.

Welcome Hestia and congratulations! Perhaps it's time for the 6:1 maintenance then? That's what Dr. Mosley does now, only going back to 5:2 if he puts on a bit of weight or overdoes it on holiday.

Yes, I am going to have to find what works best for me. My OH has just started with the regime, he could really do with losing a couple of stones and is on his second week. I feel that I have to keep on with the 5:2 for now in order to keep him company. I'm not at risk of getting dangerously thin or anything, so I will see how it goes for now.

My OH doesn't need to lose weight but wants the health benefits. He is joining me in doing a 24 hour fast twice a week but when I just have a low carb 500 cal meal he has plenty of carbs with it and then eats dessert if he wants. He doesn't think he's lost weight after doing this for about 2 months.

That's a good idea, I can still do the 24 hour fast with him but rather than counting calories in my 'breakfast' meal, I could eat as much as I like. That sounds a bit like your OH is doing. Good plan.
