I've been calorie counting since last July and have lost 22kgs through that and increasing my exercise times. I'm wondering whether to switch to 5:2 now but I'm not sure whether it would help me get the last 10 kgs off or if the change of regime after such a long time on restricted calories would mean I wouldn't lose more. I'll wait and read other's thoughts for the moment, I think.

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!
If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

As you are nearing your goal weight, I think you have to ask yourself "how am I going to maintain this new weight?" If you look at my posts in the nerdy stuff section on gaining weight, you'll see that your body will try to drive the weight up again. So, do you want to keep on calorie counting every day for the rest of your life? Or just on two days a week? If you give fasting a go and you like it you will find it is very flexible and can be adjusted to cope with social events so easily. And then there are the other potential health benefits (no guarantees but many others here don't need to lose weight and are in it for their health).
Anyway, that's just my opinion. Have a wander around the forum and read what people are saying.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do!
