Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. Hi I'm new to this 5:2 fasting so any thoughts or ideas from anyone would be great.

I'm hoping to do this as a test of willpower and ]to give my body a rest from the rubbish that is so readily available - generally my willpower is non-existent so this may be tricky.

Hi Spring, welcome to the forum!

You just have to be strong willpower-wise twice a week and the knowledge that you can eat what you fancy tomorrow gets you through. The first couple of fasts are the hardest but luckily motivation is strong at that stage so it should carry you through until it gets easier!

You'll find lots of useful info and support here. Can I suggest you start with the FAQ (link below)?

Hi spring

I just started the diet 2 days ago, and did my first fasting day on thursday...I'm like you I have no willpower either...if somebody waves at bar of chocolate in front of me I'll snatch it out of their hands!...but this diet is different because you just keep reminding yourself that you can eat what you want the next day, so it doesn't seem so bad...I suprised myself how well i did on the fast day, and found eating nothing all day and having a bigger dinner worked for me, filled up with lots of iced water in between...think the best thing is not to be too hard on yourself at the start, it's retraining your body and finding what works for you...and I keep reminding myself aswell as being thinner I will be healthier...good luck

Thanks Caroline & Lou, it's been fine today - so far! Going to enjoy dinner though. Enjoyed black coffee too - oddly. Just a little concerned about running tomorrow after so little to eat today as I usually eat quite a lot. I'm sure it will be fine and will let people know. Take care both, Spring
