Introduce Yourself!

Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!

If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hi

My name is Sue and like many I am sure on here I have added on the pounds after having a child and my lifestyle is pretty sedentary sat at a computer all day in work. I've tried other diets and generally give up after a week as I don't see any results and I'm fed up chewing cardboard or whatever the current fad is.

My boss started the 5:2 about 3 weeks ago and has already lost about 6lbs and you can see her waistline is looking slimmer so I read the book and decided it is worth a go.

I am on my second week of the diet and lost 2lb already so feeling pretty good. My daughter is doing the diet with me and although she didn't loose any weight last week she has already lost an inch round her tummy! She is 15 and I know it says not to put children on the diet she is a "big" girl - taller than me already and on her way to being 6ft, very broad shouldered and certainly not going to faint after a couple of days on low calories (although I have put her on 600 for a fast day). My real aim with her is to cut the fizzy drinks and get her out of the snacking habit which is not helping her tummy fat.

So I am off to have a look around the forum - everyone seems really friendly so I look forward to making some on-line friends as we all slim away ;)

Hi Sue and welcome!

I think you're right about the snacking and fizzy drinks. My DS is skinny but I do worry about him wanting to keep his tummy full at all times. I don't mind him eating a lot but the foods that he eats between the main meals don't tend to be too healthy!

Hope you both do well on the new lifestyle!
