Our Frequently Asked Questions topic will answer many of your fasting & weight loss questions!
If you're new and have a question or need some advice, please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!
I would say if you're actually hungry (and we're learning what that is on this diet) then that's a reasonable snack (unless it's a sugary child's cereal). IF you're just nervous about fasting tomorrow, try to have a cup of herbal tea or a glass of water -- or maybe just a piece of fruit instead of both items.
Although some of her principles are quite extreme i.e. foods that are really bad and should be avoided. however, One of her principles is that we should not eat after 7pm at the latest as anything eaten cannot be digested fully before sleep and will sit fermenting in the stomach. Since being on 5:2 I have found it even easier not to eat in the evening - no snacks what so ever in fact. I dont even feel hungry when I wake up after a fast day. Marissa also has a free download with her book for hypnotherapy which for all of us who may be looking at portion control on eat days this could be a valuable aide.
To OP, I think it will ease off. Like you I am new to this and find myself eating a little extra the day before and the day after a fast. I think it's totally in my head and not genuine hunger. I am hoping as time passes and my body gets used to this way of eating I will realise I don't need to do the overeating.
Alibarber are you eating through hunger or just the thought of a fast day the day after?
