Counting exercise calories
07 Feb 2013, 18:03
I think I know the answer but want to check, I'm using My Fitness Pal to count my cals on a fast day, and this morning I went for a walk and the cals that it used up are still left in my balance. I've just about had my 500 for the day but my remaining balance says 50, which is what I had for the walk. So do I have another 50 cals to eat or should I ignore this and base it on the fact I've had 500 irrespective of any exercise I've done.

Thanks

:) Hi janjay - on a fast day you have to restrict to 500 calories even if you burn extra calories exercising. On a feast day it's a bonus as it gives you extra calories to enjoy (if you want to that is!). Good luck

The fast day allowance is based on 25% of your total daily energy expenditure, which takes account of the exercise you do anyway, so you can't count your exercise calories twice!
