Newbie to 5:2, advice please!

Hi guys
Just getting ready to start this diet with next monday and thursday being my first fasting days. Classed as overweight on bmi scale but only really need to lose a stone but i do store most of my fat around my stomach which is the worst place. I've read the book by Dr Mosley and its sound great not only for the weight loss but also the health benefits. I like many have tried various diets but being quite a fussy eater I have always struggled to stick to anything.

I think I am going to try breakfast and dinner but am worried as I do go shaky if I get too hungry :o I was just wondering if it is ok to eat anything on the fasting days as long as you have 500 cals, in the book it goes on about low GI foods as they fill you up more but being a fussy eater there are a lot of things I don't like (usually the healthy foods!!). Also is it ok to drink diet pepsi, I like coffee but with milk and sugar!!.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. :P

Happy reading and good luck with your fast
Thanks caroline, theres lots of useful info on there. Just planning what to eat on my fast days.
If you can bear to cook, fish or chicken or turkey meat with lots of varied veggies is the most filling. Or lots of people go for a ready meal such as the M&S Fuller longer range if they don't want to cook. Soup is another good option as it is filling but not many calories.

Check out the recipe section too!
