Newby to 5:2

Hi just starting out on 5:2, bought the book last week having watched the Horizon program. Fasting today & so far seems very easy, had some veg soup + coffee & loads of water, please tell me I'm not suddenly going to come crashing down to earth with a bang! Been going to SW this last year & managed to lose 2 stone but seem to have stalled, so hoping this might kick start things in the weight loss department as well as provide some extra health benefits. Plan to continue with SW on feast days, anyone else doing this, is it feasible? Sorry seem to be wittering on a bit here but really excited might have found something that will work for me after 40 years of searching !

Hi Ginty

I'm glad you are finding the fast day so manageable.

Re your plan to continue SW on feed days...we think (but no-one actually knows) that it is important to have a big difference between feed day calories and fast day calories, so if the SW plan gives you a big restriction on calories compared with what you would need to maintain your current weight, it is better to have more on feed days and cut the fast days down even lower.

Because you have already lost a fair bit of weight I think you should not eat your full maintenance allowance on feed days but equally you should not go down to a diet level. I've never done SW so I don't know how flexible it is...if they have a maintenance level or similar then you should probably combine that with the fasting.

Am I making any sense?
