Not losing weight?

Help us to help you! Please give us as much information as you can about your situation in order for us to be able to help you as best we can. For example, it's helpful to know your BMI/weight, how much you want to lose, any medical conditions which might affect your weight and (if you've started fasting already) how you do your fasts in terms of splitting up your calories, what you eat etc. Thanks!

Hey

I seem to be stuck on a bit of a plateau I have only lost 1lb since April 1st. I have lost about a stone in total so am happy with my 5:2 journey in general but am 1lb off a healthy BMI.

I exercise a fair amount 30 day shred 6 times a week, Karate 3/4 times a week, Gym 2/3 times a week and I walk for an hour a day which I'm not sure I count as exercise. But I sit at a desk all day at work and on a train for 3 hours a day so I'm fairly sedentary for most of the working week.

So my question I guess is am I eating enough or too many calories on fast days I am eating 300-350 and the rest of the week 1200-1500 (maybe a little over at weekends but never over 1800/2000). This is in line with my Sedentry TDEE.

I have definitely seen results in the last few weeks although my waist has stayed the same everything around is has got smaller and none of my clothes fit any more.

I know I shouldn't probably worry about the weight it just frustrating me now ideally I would like to lost another 7-14lbs. I'm only 5ft so every pound shows.

Thanks :-)
I think that if your clothes are still showing signs that you're shrinking you should just carry on as you are! I'm sure the scales will reflect that change eventually. Have you always exercised as much as you are now doing? You might be increasing muscle and so hiding the weight of fat lost.
Thanks I know I shouldn't be stressing really and should probably ditch the scales!!

I have always exercised a lot have only added in the 30DS in the last few weeks though courtesy of this wonderful forum ;-) and am hooked!!
With a sedentary TDEE around 1400 +/- 140 you are in a bit of a squeeze.

I estimate you have about 20 kg of body fat and that should give you about 600 calories per day of energy supply ( 30 cals/day per kg ) which will decline as you lose weight.

At 129 lbs / 9 st 3 you don't have far to go and it may be appropriate to aim for a lower calorie deficit by exercising less (as opposed to eating more to feed your exercise).

The 2 days a week of fasting will give your systems enough stress and the exercise regime might just be too much - halve it or take a break for a week or two and assess the effects.

You may also want to reflect on the what you eat and the timing of fast day meals to see if anything can be changed there to help liberate some more fat.
Whenever I got 'stuck' I found that if I overindulged for a day or two it seemed to kickstart the whole process again. I know this sounds contradictory but it worked for me and I have seen others on here say similar things. I had periods when I almost gave up which was probably what set off the over eating, then bingo!

I hope you start to lose again, however you do it, I'm positive you will and as you seem to be shrinking, whatever the scales say, then it seems as though the process is still working. :victory:

Don't give up, you will get there, I did, much to my everlasting shock and delight, good luck, :clover:

Thanks for all the feedback :-)

Maybe I shall stick as I am and see what happens my body is definitely changing shape and hopefully one day the scales will reflect it.

Am very reluctant to cut down on the exercise have a few things coming up which I need to be fitter and more flexible for!!

I have issues eating all of the calories some days (weekends and wine usually aren't an issue in that respect though) so I'm almost glad you didn't say eat more :-)

Will stick with it longterm anyways and hopefully even if i'm always a pound overweight at least I'll be leaner, fitter and healthier :-)
