My 6 week update
15 Mar 2013, 11:35
Well, its 6 weeks in for me, and glad to report that this morning I weighed 14st 9lbs, whereas on Mon 4th Feb, my starting day, I was 15st 6lbs.

Delighted, feel better, clothes fit !

Admittedly, after becoming ill when I was away in the States end of Feb, perhaps a few pounds were lost extra, but other than that, I've just stuck to the 2 day fasts pretty well.

Yesterday for example, as I knew I meeting a buddie for a couple of beers at 5.30, despite it being a Fasting Day, I didnt eat a thing at all, and got through on a couple of cups of tea and a coffee, before a couple of pints at 6pm. Not ideal, but seems its still worked.
After all, you cant be tooooo rigid if something comes up, thats the beauty of it.

Goal ? Well, at this rate, i'm sure i'll hit 14st by end of April, which in all honesty, I havent been for over 30yrs, so we'll see how I feel when I get there. If I've got the ripped washboard stomach by then, i'll stop
Dont want to lose so much that I'll look gaunt, as Ive always been a broad build, - but that said, the difference in just even walking the dog already is very noticeable, and thats even with still suffering the lingering effects of a viral infection thats taking a while to clear.

Sadly, once again, my wife has seemingly fallen off the track, and simply sneers at me when I mention weight loss, so my hopes that this would be an easy way for her to get where she's wanted to be for a decade, are dashed again. What more can a husband do ? It bothers me, as I know full well just how much better she feels about herself when she does lose weight, - and we both benefit !!

Oh well, I'll keep going, perhaps i'll inspire her in silence.

Keep going peeps, may the force be with you.

hahahaha that has just made me laugh out loud! Bless your heart. If your wife is anything like me she will do a diet when she wants to, and as back to front as it may seem, your success is probably putting her off. It was my husband who announced he could do this diet, which shocked me so much I gave it a try! He hasn't done any fast days but we don't drink alcohol during the week now so he has lost some of his tummy!
Well done for your loss and your sense of humour!

May the force be with you too!

That's great going, and you're right, it's a very flexible approach which can be altered as things come up. All you can do for your wife is continue to be a good example.

Good to hear you're doing well! Congratulations!

Did your wife try it? Why did she give up? I resisted all previous attempts from my OH to get me to lose weight because I knew that diets make you fat and I'd just put it all back on and more. However, when I saw the TV prog, I knew this was one technique that would enable me to keep the weight off for good. Perhaps she is afraid...of fasting, of failing, of regaining the weight?

It is really hard with the husband/wife dynamic. Your success may make her feel more insecure. Sometimes the less said the better.

She started it, as did friends, but I dunno why she's quit, its happened with most attempts to lose weight for years.
Tis a shame, cos I really do know how much we both benefit when she does......and thats not being selfish.

Its strange, but I personally find that Fasting actually 'feels good', if thats the right term. I mean, I was out on Wednesday evening at a business function, and had a meal at approx 8.30pm, - my last meal.
yesterday, as I said, nothing at all, zilch, nada, nuttin,......apart from fluids. Then today so far, a bowl of porridge at 8am, and usual tea/coffee.
Thats 1 Bowl of Porridge in the last 40hrs........

But - as I sit here now, I dont feel hungry........and have just walked the dog for an hour.
Bizarre.

Is it possible that she has had some negative comments made about 5:2? and perhaps that has put her off?
