Hilarious take on 5:2
05 Mar 2013, 20:45
Here's an article by someone who thought they saw a chance to do a bit of Brit-bashing:

Enjoy!

I am trying to smile too but not very convincingly. I hope some of our stateside members will add some comments to the page pointing out what nonsense it is. I notice the website is owned by NBC; perhaps the negative publicity is aimed at ABC which is the network that has promoted the fast diet?

My phone won't bring the article up, maybe it finds it offensive :) but I will be checking it out in the morning on the laptop...

How hilarious! Gutted I couldnt comment! Well we all know which country has the greater obesity epidemic. Everything is due to recieve negative press, which is exactly the reason why you shouldnt believe every Tom, Dick and Jane who can post on a website! I will stick to my smelly breath weightloss thank you!!

You cynic you!

It read to me like they'd copied chunks out of the Daily Fail's dissing article (you know the one they published just before their own 2 day diet!).

At the bottom of that article it's advertising a trip to meet Dr. Oz. That's all you really need to know about that publication's "science" credentials.

Just noticed that the "expert" cited in the article is a registered dietician...not necessarily the expert I would consult with as many dieticians are not terribly forward-thinking. It took years before many of them would even accept vegetarianism or a vegan lifestyle. The article seems slapped together (I'd be surprised if it was the result of any reading) and is hardly representative of what we've seen in respected newspapers such as the New York Times. That was what sparked my interest. Book and documentary are both well thought out and will capture the attention of many as it becomes more well known here.

It made me realise what super-humans we must all be on here, to be able to Fast and drive cars, take care of children, and in the case of one forum member go for a 10 mile run on Fast Days.
Well done us :)

I read this too, and tried to respond, but you have to be a member (and I did not want to be a member at a site that would post such shabby work). I'm from the USA and thought it was absolutely ludicrous. I haven't even started properly yet, but still knew better than that. "Slapped together" definitely described it.

Absolutely, that really says it all!!

I love the bit about laying around, feeling faint etc etc. Whereas presumably if you're an overweight person living on junk food, you'll have bags of energy!!

Look the writer up on LinkedIn. She is not out of University yet! Entrepreneurial, yes. Knowledgeable, no.

Maybe she should have read "The Fast Diet" first.

Well she clearly didn't try the diet or speak with anyone who has!

I think it's important to read as much good and bad about diets before trying them out so you understand what you will go through.

as soon as the morning after my first fast diet i was surprised to feel no hunger pains at all! I can see the benefits of this diet straight away... I.ve also been surprised that i can't eat as much on the feed days and i'm only 4 days in! Now i have 3 days of normal eating... Love it!
