Interesting article by Dr Simpson on how the time of day you eat your main meal can effect weight loss.

Eating your main meal at lunch time, or before 3pm, seems to give better weight loss results than eating your main meal for dinner. Eating after 8pm is related with weight gain and obesity.

"morbidly obese patients who come to us for weight loss surgery eat the majority of their calories after 3 pm, and some eat all of their calories after 3 pm. Patients who were successful at losing weight and keeping it off, had changed that habit -and the main meal was no longer “supper”."
I haven't been doing it long enough to comment but I normally eat on fast day around 4pm as I don't like to eat too late and then goto bed on it. It's working for me at the moment but no doubt some point i will try eating later as well. It could of course be related with some people if they eat early they are less likely to break fast with junk food for others it could just be better to fast longer as the body is forced to burn more fat then =) but it's interesting reading =)
I am doing fine on this diet and I have all my calories in the evening...
Normally eat main meal around 4.30 with kids on a fast day, as find if I eat later I feel too full going to bed...mind you, on a feast day can eat whenever and feel fine....the body is a mysterious vessel x
What I am doing is trying to keep it as normal as possible by eating fast days at the same time as feast days, its early days for me yet so I will have to wait and see
Those studies were not particularly well conducted imho. None have controlled for calorie intake.
I think we all have to experiment and see what works for us. We can always try different approaches for a couple of weeks. Then try another way -the progress tracker is great for seeing what is working. I make a big pot of vege soup one night a week and freeze half. On a fast day I fiind i can easily wait until lunchtime at work 12.30 then eat 250 cals and eat the other half at about 7.30pm. I am losing weight steadily and feel comfortable, with heaps of energy on fast days, going to the pool and gym etc. I agree with eating at the same time each day as you usually do, but making sure it is plant rich food. But then I am a vegan so I would say that! ;-) good luck to all of us who feel we have finally found the key to losing weight! It is just fine tuning for each of us from here I think.........
