I hope you don't mind me posting this Caroline but I have been struggling to find a reasonably accurate TDEE calculater.

I was reading through the negative side effects post and found this gem suggested from Caroline.

It allows you to input a lot more data that others I have tried and useful for me as a stay at home mum who potters most of the day!

I thought it would be useful if this had it's own post so that it is easier to find (unless I didn't look hard enough!)

I am a little bit confused about TDEE as I believed we are not supposed to diet on feed days but quite a few people seems to be taking 15-20% off their TDEE on feed days as well.

I have just been eating without counting calories at all on my feed days but do think I probably should make sure I don't exceed my TDEE on those days if I really want to shift the lbs!

Do you use the TDEE just as a rough quide to calories on your feed day?

My experience is that you can get away with taking a bit off TDEE on feed days but it soon results in a slowed weight loss. I try to average just under TDEE but I tend to eat more than TDEE at weekends and under during the week. Mixing it up with some considerable overeating paired with frugal feed days appears to have given me the best losses. I think the recent post by breadandwine about thyroid slow down with dieting may explain this in that occasional over eating helps to prevent the slow down seen with continual restriction.
I have yet to count calories on feed days but I intent to try a couple of feed days counting 2000 calories, just so I get an idea of what eating "normally" should be for me. Caroline`s mixing things up a bit sounds like a very natural way of eating. Most importantly for me is feeling comfortable and happy with the fast diet as I want to stick with it.
Well my first try was 4123, then 3724.

I am targeting 2200 on feed days, 500 on fast days doing 4:3 so I should be loosing 5lb a week! Still I am happy with the 3lb I am loosing!

This calculator reckons my TDEE is about 2900. I have been doing 5:2 with the 500 on fast days and around 2000 on feast days. Would my weight loss increase if I adjusted these, bit confused, probably being dim.
Well all the calculators are flawed but you could try it. Why not, rather than go right up to 2900, just increase by say 200 cals and see? Going up by 900 is a big leap! Or, why not stick to 2000 on weekdays and allow yourself up to 2900 at weekends? That would only increase your total intake by 1800 which is less than 1lb's worth of fat so if you're wrong it won't be a disaster! In fact, I think the more we mix things up the better so I would go for the big increase at weekends rather than a small increase on every feed day. And please tell us how you got on because we all want to know the answer to this!
Thanks for the advice. Think I will try and stick to 2000 (ish!) kcal on week days and then not worry about it at the weekend. I have been losing between 1 and 2 lb a week and would be more than happy to keep this up!
Great calculator - interesting how sex is in the moderate section! And you have to put minutes in hilarious!!! :shock:
