Mumsnet and IF research

Hi folks

I've been practicing Intermittent Fasting (IF) for almost a year now - beginning by reducing my calories in half two days a week. Even with this rather limited regime I lost about 8lbs over 6 months.

After the Horizon programme - which backed up all I'd read on the subject - I went down to <600 calories on my fasting days. I've since lost a further stone and now I'm trying to maintain my weight without further loss.

I've been posting on the 5:2 diet threads on Mumsnet since October - there's been a thriving community on there since early August:

Similar to your Resources board, we have a dedicated thread on Mumsnet, for all the research on IF that posters have turned up. Since I've linked to this board on there, it seems only fair that I should give the link back to the Mumsnet 'Tips and Links' thread:

I'm delighted to welcome a new forum on the subject, and hope that we can learn from each other.

ATB, B&W

Ps. I've been blogging about my 5:2 experiences since Feb last year:

Thanks for posting up these links B&W! I have been browsing the threads...very interesting and inspiring.

Your breadmaking blog is great. I have been making my own bread for years, sometimes by hand and sometimes using the breadmaker. I recently threw out a sourdough culture I had been nurturing for about 6 months because I consistently failed to make decent bread with it! Other failures include 100% spelt flour (can do 50% but 100% is like a brick) and french sticks. Big successes: pizza, cinnamon buns, brioche.
