Healthy vs unhealthy fat cells

Thanks @MaryAnn for posting this link :like:. It's very interesting stuff so I've created a thread for it as you suggested!
You beat me to it, Caroline

This paragraph in particular caught my attention:

"The fat cells of the unhealthy obese were larger than those of any other group. They were swollen and riddled with inflammation. The breakdown and mobilization of their fat stores was suppressed, and a closer look showed that their mitochondria were malfunctioning. Their ability to burn fuel and produce adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, the body’s energy currency, was reduced."

Many of us know (or are ourselves) people who find it unusually difficult to lose weight. The medical establishment has hitherto been very dismissive of such people and I wonder if they're starting to understand (that it isn't, at least not always, just an inability to follow a regime or lack of will power) at last?
Personally I think the lack of willpower comes in because of the inability to lose weight, not the other way around. By the time you are on your 4th round of Weight watchers, you lose heart and your willpower suffers.
I agree Julie! Pointing for months on end, saying no to meals out and worrying about how many points are in something before you allow yourself to eat it destroyed my relationship with food. I am still at the beginning of this journey but already have discovered the joy of a good meal. I have enormous will power at times but cannot maintain it forever.
