I spotted this article in Scientific American describing a proposed study by Peter Attia et al. to determine whether cutting out carbs leads to weightloss when the subject is apparently in energy balance.

Don't hold your breath fit the results though..it's likely to take 3 years to complete!
That sounds like something that,s a worthwhile study.
I too am really curious about this.

I remember reading a study a while ago that compared low-carb with low-fat. The subjects had meals prepared for them so it didn't rely on reporting. In that case even more calories of low-carb led to more weight loss than the low fat diet. I will try to find a link.
Great that some research is being done into this.
