The 5:2 Lab

I was going to do 4:3 for the next 8 weeks (until my holiday) in the hope of losing a few more pounds but on checking the Progress Tracker forum results it shows identical results as 5:2? I find this odd!

Is this correct? Only I would of expected better losses with 4:3?
Yes it's correct, and confirms what they said on the programme.
Our very own stats have come to the same conclusion. The difference is marginal.
I think many of us do a 3rd fast if we know we have lots of socializing coming up or a special event where we will probably go well over our daily 2000 cals.
I don't think it will do you any harm, but the evidence seems to be that it won't speed up our weight loss significantly.
I suspect that doing 4:3 either results in being more hungry on feed days or gives a kind of implicit permission to be more generous with the calories on feed days. Also those doing 4:3 may be more likely to be people who didn't lose weight on 5:2. These together may have resulted in the lack of difference in average weight loss between the two programmes.
Thanks all for your replies i see it could be down to several factors and not all of them the diet as such - I thought it strange as im a member of a facebook group for 5:2 and on there 4:3'ers definately appear to lose more than 5:2'ers!
