18 Apr 2013, 06:03
Hi

This may be of use to you. I had a Wellness check test at a Pharmacy Tues 16/4/13. A bit of history first.
Age 57 no regular excercise since Oct 12. Usually swimming and walking.
I move about quite a bit at work, walking and figiting if sat at desk.(NEAT)

Diet changed from low fat / grazing June 2011 to full natural fats / low sugar natural foods. starting weight 19.0 stone
weight Jan 2013 15.5lbs (put 5lbs on over Xmas)
Mid Jan started 5:2 weight today 14.9 - 2" from waist. since initial weightloss at begining of 5:2 now averaging 0.5lbs a week.
Now down to 2 meals a day, no breakfasts since about 4 week ago. No substantial snacking, just a few nuts if needed. Fast days Mon & thurs
same for last couple of weeks - Lunch 300ml almond milk, 3 large strawbs 1/2tsp ex/vir coconut oil made into a shake. dinner soup around 380cals.

Acholol about 20 units over fri, sat & sun. Lagar, red wine or white wine & soda.

Blood results June 2012 Fasting test at GP's
Chol level 5.9
trig 0.57
HDL 2.4
LDL 3.2
CHOL/HDL RATIO 2.5
GLUCOSE 4.3

RESULT FROM NON-FASTING APRIL 2013
Chol level 6.10
HDL 2.08
TC/HDL RATIO 2.9
GLUCOSE 4.5 (4HRS AFTER LUNCH)

BLOOD PRESSURE 126/89
TAKING NO MEDS.

Caroline how long should I wait before another test. Now I know the Pharmacy does it I can go when I like. Unlike the GP, I have to wait till I'm 'eligable'.

Thanks
Chris

Interesting results. Your TC:HDL is really good and with the good bp it puts you into the very low risk bracket. I'd wait at least another 3 months if not 6 before retesting. I'm not sure how much change to expect since your results are good. The total cholesterol is high but the ratio is good.

Excellent HDL level keeping the ratio down in the lowest risk part of the graph.
