Water weight
14 May 2013, 08:45
I started 5:2 in February at 63.4 kg, water weight percentage around 51. I noticed that since I have been losing weight the water weight percentage is going up, this morning I am 58.5 kg, water weight 54.5%. Is this a good thing or does it just mean that my body is retaining water more. I always drink lots of water even before starting 5:2, even I don't drink tea , coffee and soft drinks as I don't like them. Would be interested to hear what's the reason behind it.

that's about the same amount of water isn't it ?....

51% of 63.4 = 32.2 kg
54.5% of 58.5 = 31.9 kg

I think its a good thing as adipose tissue tends to be very low in water and as poor blood supply, as we lose weight the adipose tissue contains more water and has a better blood supply allowing the fat to be more easily released into the bloodstream for use as energy.

I have been doing a similar calculation on the fat% to see how many kg of fat I am losing. It is quite interesting (to me anyway)!
