There was a Food Programme episode about transfats a while back. I havn't read this thread (sorry feeling lazy atm  ). But maybe it's interesting/relevant.

Thank you Michael for the very interesting article it must have taken you some time to collate it all.

I've seen variations on this a few times on the net and every time I so want to believe it but think it sounds like bollocks and I kept meaning to test it! :D

Well I finally got round to it. My cat had no hesitation about eating flora original, in fact he seemed less keen on the butter I offered after. Not a very fair test though, maybe I'll do a follow up study

Hmm, I suppose thats animal testing. Now I feel like Leo (my avatar) is giving me an evil look...
Hi Yorkshirepudding,

Thank you for that, like you, I always meant to put this to the test rather than just accept it's validity and then quote it on a public forum and make myself look like a right idiot  :rotfl:

I sit corrected and now wonder about the other claim that it never goes rancid? Not that it matters as it will never get the chance in our house. I actually dislike the stuff whatever it is and will stick to my natural alternatives, or are the plastic foods alternatives? Off for a coffee with double cream, :victory: have a great day,

@Ballerina I brought double cream today especially for my coffee instead of the coconut oil slick. Will test it out Sunday on my next liquid fast day, thanks for that inspiration. Go and enjoy y our coffee and you staying off the trans fats sounds very sensible to me
Oh, could not wait til Sunday, go on spoil yourself, you will not be hungry for hours and it tastes so delicious. :eat: Funnily enough I dislike milk in coffee, strange that!

Put that cat on 5:2, I'm sure it would get it's preferences right.

He's on 3/2: 3 meals and 2 'snacks'. After eating the marg and some of the butter he went and ate a mouse he had left under the table. He's always complaining about not being fed enough, 5:2 would kill him :P I suppose he might like to try going primal :D

Testing if marg goes rancid could be more difficult since experiment 1 shows experiment 2's sample would be at risk around here...
