Weight Maintenance

Hello maintenance people......
13 Dec 2013, 11:04
......I didn't even know this bit of the forum existed.

Hope you are all well and having good days.
Hello and welcome. I started 5:2 and maintenance about 3 weeks ago and am loving it so far

Despite a huge blow out whilst I was at a conference last week, I haven't gained weight ... its still early days to say if I'm really maintaining, but I am hopeful that this WOE will do just that and will help me keep my weight steady and stop those pounds coming back

Welcome and good luck :clover: :clover:
Me too @Simon Egan, as I'm maintaining I'll be popping in here now and then.
Yes, there are a couple of us around. The only problem is that they don't have too many sensational stories. What can you make of 'I'm doing fine and my weight is stable'? :?: Perhaps we should start a topic on how to state 'nothing really happened' in the most original way?

:like: Yeah... agreed .... maintenance doesn't have a lot of sensationalism. However, for me personally it's the bit I am MOST excited about as I have spent the last 15 years being a yo-yo dieter - so to have remained the same weight for the last 9.5 weeks is a major achievement for me......
Hi, yes, maintenance is rather boring but things can sneak up on you when you last expect them, hence    .....................

Heloo..O.... *waves*

My target was 11 stones (154lbs) and I'm currently varying between 151 lbs and 152 lbs, with a comfort target of 150 lbs.

I'm doing very nicely, thank you, since 29 October. It's sustainable.
I eat what I like. I weight daily.

It IS exciting! (to me!!)
Hello. I'm not on the forum very often nowadays for various non 5:2 reasons:) but I am on maintenance and have been, on and off, since August. My original target weight was 9 stone I think, but now I am happily around 8.7

I had a few wobbles on maintenance but am now happily plodding along doing ADF maintenance which for me is eating 1000 low carb calories or less every other day. On my eating days I eat what I want but try to keep within an eight hour window, I also weigh daily as I find it helps keep me an target.
Hello all

I am maintaining too. I am still doing 4:3 but eat slightly more on low calorie days than before. It is working so far but I am worried about a serious lapse!
I think my mind set is different though, from in the past, I feel like I have to restrict to stay a healthy weight but it is ok because I can have treats on some days. I don't actually want to over eat to the same extent anyway, its not a hardship.
You lot sound like you are at a rehab or AA meeting - 'Hi my name is Julie and I've been clean for 6 weeks'   .

I'm just jealous, I'd love to be one of you lot  .
While it might seem boring and uneventful compared to the downward journey, know that there are quite a few of us losers looking on with HUGE admiration. This is the hard part. This is the bit we fail at (at least in the past), not the losing.

P. s. I sort of have one foot in the door here. I'm hoping to have both feet in after Xmas. If you don't see me then, send out a search party.
Hi I have been in maintenance for more than four months now. I found it strange to begin with but now I think it is wonderful that I have stayed below my target. I am not complacent though and weigh myself every day. Christmas will be a challenge as I usually gain weight over the festive period but I plan to be as sensible as possible.
I've just changed my progress tracker to maintenance so will see how this goes. I plan to do 6:1 as of next week, combined with low-carb and exercises.

I'm having some blood tests done today as I'm still feeling cold and a bit lethargic. If there are any iron deficiencies and the like there will be a few friends and family ready to tell me that this diet is bad for me.
I have been maintaining since October, I def feel better about how I look (and feel more comfortable with less midriff!) but I can't honestly say that I feel healthier or fitter. (I didn't have blood tests etc.) my joints still ache.

I am struggling to sort out maintenance, have been doing 6:1 because I don't want to lose more weight, but am clearly eating too much on the other days. After a single night hotel stay for my husband's 60th, I have now hit the weight I was on the 4th Sept!! I'm not logging it as I'm hoping it's temporary. Mind you, I've not been logging on MFP since maintaining, so think I've been kidding myself about the amount I eat and from occasional weigh-ins I know it's been creeping up before going to the hotel. Must get on track right now, before Christmas!!

It's not just about weight either. Although the health benefits of occasional fasting are still in some doubt, I like the idea, so want to try to keep it up once a week...
Hmmm, a quick scan of most maintainers' BMI shows them lower than me, even @wildmissus who's not even supposed to be maintaining yet.
Am I still too fat then, peeples?
