Weight Maintenance

13 posts Page 1 of 1
Can I join this gang, please? :victory: I reached my target of ten stone, seven pounds on the 7th July, losing twenty three pounds, and have maintained it for the last couple of weeks. I have to say that my weight-loss journey has been painless, despite gaining a couple of times when on holiday, - but I have always been a good dieter! Unfortunately, I am an even better eater and have always regained lost weight, usually topping off at around twelve stone before starting to diet all over again! :frown:

For me then, the biggest challenge will be to maintain my present weight. I am a little apprehensive because I have never managed to do this, for any meaningful length of time, in forty years! At the moment it's going OK because my husband needs to lose another seven ponds, so I am still fasting twice a week with him - because there is no way he would fast if I wasn't! If, after three months, I am still around this weight, then that would be amazing! After six months it would be miraculous!

This forum has been such a support to me that I will still be here (a lot!) as my maintenance epic continues!
Well done & congrats. Agree that maintenance is the very interesting part so keep us informed as to how you are managing ;)
Yep, maintenance has always been my Achilles heel. I've never actually maintained before because I found the diets so restricting that I just lost the plot and went on an eating rampage. This is the FIRST time I have EVER done maintenance so it's quite a novelty for me but 4 months on and I'm still doing it, unbelievable! I now feel that I am well on the way to sustaining this way of eating for ever, hooray !!!!

That is awesome that you've reached goal!!

I think the fact that you're concerned about maintenance means you might do well. Just be careful and don't go crazy. I think the danger is to just feel "I'm goal weight so all the rules are no longer needed."
Well done for getting there! :like: It would seem that 5:2 'retrains' our eating habits in a way that should help us maintain - really look forward to hearing about how that works for you! The best of luck!
Congrats and good luck with maintenance!
Congratulation! :victory: I think you will do well with maintenance, we have such a wonderful tool with this WoE. Just pay attention and be mindful. Throw in a few fasts to balance things out when life throws a lot of food your way. You will and can do it! :)
Well done and welcome to the maintenance section! It's a little quiet at the moment, but please keep us posted on how you choose to do maintenance and how it works for you. There isn't a one size fits all for maintenance, but what fits in with your eating habits and lifestyle. Good luck!
Congratulations! Well done!
Welcome, stowgate,. I, too, can hardly believe how easy it was to reach my goal a month or so ago--now it seems easy to maintain with 6:1, but time will tell. Maybe the occasional 5:2 will be necessary. I continue to feel on non-fast days as if I've eaten too much, but the next day my weight has maintained--not gone up. I think 5:2 has retrained my system to not enjoy such large portions as I used to eat. This is one of the best features of the plan, I think.

Congratulations on meeting your goal!
Fantastic news

Wow well done on reaching your goal :like:
