Re the sudden dramatic gain: can it be partly from water retention and constipation? The latter can cause some surprising gains.

Yes, my fingers and ankles are a bit swollen, so likely to be fluid retention. I'm not sure what to do about that though as I drink already two litres of water a day plus 2-3 cups of peppermint tea but lately I have been enjoying more bread and cakes, which perhaps also explain the weight gain. Anyway, first fast of the week went well and another one planned for tomorrow. Hopefully back to maintaining soon.

Update one week later and I am now 117.4 lbs which is a loss of 2.2 lbs.
I did the two fast days and rather than aim for 1273 cals on each non fast day I prefer to work towards 6365 (5x1273) which gives me more flexibility and choice.

Update two weeks later and I am now 115.6 lbs which is an overall loss of 4 lbs. I do have a few calories 'spare' but they will be used up as I am eating in restaurants for the next four days in a row which is a big challenge for a person who normally eats out once a week!

I'm back after twelve days in Belgium visiting newly-relocated daughter and grandchildren. I have piled on the weight and so had my first fast yesterday and will be cutting out snacks, cakes and wine for the next couple of weeks until I am much nearer to my target again! I really don't want to head into winter carrying extra poundage!

Me again! In my last post, I resolved to cut out snacks, cakes and wine but, only two days later, I had consumed all three! We had friends round for drinks on Saturday which involved lots of wine, dips and snacks and they brought cake with them, which I just had to eat! :pig2:
Fortunately, on my official weigh-in day (Sunday) I had still managed to lose some of the Belgian weight, almost back to within my 2lb. 'wiggle room'.
Today (we'll gloss over Sunday!) I am fasting with a view to shedding the remainder, and maybe a little more, over the next couple of weeks. However, with the 1st of October only days away, it will be interesting to see if I finish September at a higher, or lower, weight than the start of it! How are the rest of you lovely maintainers doing?

Doing fine, had one fast last week (first in a couple of months). Will try a number of weeks on 13:1 and see what happens.

Weighed in at 145 lbs this morning before my fast, much to my surprise. I hope its true, and not a failing battery on the scale. I feel pretty chubby.

I'm heading off to my conference very soon. I'm going to avoid eating the delicious but huge muffins for breakfast as that is 600-800 calories right there. One a day last year probably had something to do with the weight gain. Ditto the huge servings of ice cream. There aren't good breakfast options, but the good thing about fasting is that I know I can survive until lunch without eating. I will eat one muffin and one ice cream during my stay, so as not to be deprived, but not one each day.

The conference last year kicked off my weight regain. I can't afford to do that again, as it's so tough now just to maintain at 145, which is 7 lbs more than I was going into the conference last year. So wish me well! I'll still have quite a few delicious and plentiful meals. I just have to go easy on the junk carbs and in between meal monster snacks.

@peebles happy days. I had two days away last week :frown: food was dire, perhaps that is good for me? Very little fresh salad and veg. I love fresh, good food and will save myself for that. always. Sounds like your venue is tops, so good luck! :clover:
@Stowgateresident thanks for asking :like: work and life is challenging, I'm hanging in there. :victory: x

Hello fellow maintainers. I am maintaining, which currently means trying to lose weight, since I put on about 2 kg on my Italian holiday. Lovely cake for breakfast!!! I fasted last Thursday and lost a kilo. I will fast now twice a week for a fortnight, trying to get back to my maintenance range and also trying to curb my newly awoken sweet tooth!!.
Today is an other fast day for me. It is good to be spending the time here while waiting for supper to come around. Eating one meal a day on fast days.

Maintenance Month 015

Goal weight 120 lbs, maintenance range 118 - 122 lbs, method 19/5 every day.

Entry weight 123 lbs, exit weight 122 lbs, average 122.97 lbs

Lowest 122 lbs (12 days), highest 125 lbs (1 day).

Putting on a bit ready for winter. I look forward to finding out whether my tracker chart will have the same shape this winter as last. Curious.

Well @barbarita, seen from some distance the tracker chart look pretty simple: straight down during weight loss and absolutely flat on maintenance. Behind that might be some real effort, but seen in a long term perspective it is examplary for a very successful strategy :like: :victory:

Still chasing my pesky pound!

My stats for September:
Started at 64.3 kg, waist 69.75cm
Ended at 64.4 kg, waist 70cm.
Maintenance going OK :victory:
But like @barbarita, it will be interesting to see how the next few months goes. Last year I dipped down a kg in September/October and then from November onwards climbed up to just under my top limit. Haven't really been back down to Last September's lows since then. Hoping not to climb a kg this winter and get stuck there as it won't bode well for the long-term.

Bye bye Sept
Entered at 124.4
Exited at 125.8
Entering 10th month of maintaining - not breached my upper limit of 128 yet  three more months and I'll have reached my annual goal.
