Weight Maintenance

I have completed my first month successfully, but really need this thread to keep me motivated!
Ooooh, save me a seat @merlin! As of this morning I am 0.2lbs from goal. However, I cant celebrate just yet as that was an all time low after 2 consecutive fast days. I also have 2 trips away in Aug, but fingers crossed I will be maintaining very shortly.

Is this the right place to ask maintenance questions? I haven't dared look for a maintenance area on here yet!
There is a section on maintenance in the main info bit. But you can ask here as well-though having only been here for a month I doubt if I would be much use to you
After my shock of finding I'd put on 3lbs (nearly 4, actually) over the holidays, I have managed to shift 2 of them, despite the fact that Merlin caught me stuffing my face with a rice cake yesterday when we met for coffee!
At least 2 more to go to get back to my comfortable maintenance weight.
Thanks for starting this @merlin
Yes, Merlin, thanks. I've been maintaining for a long time and even went for almost 3 months with no fasting at all and still maintained. Summer fruits with shortcake, ice cream, whipped cream seem to be the culprits now so that I've needed to fast once or twice a week for the last several weeks.

It seems harder after being off fasting for so long. I'm thinking that I should fast once every week or two whether I need it or not!--just to keep in the habit.
Still maintaining. I have pretty much gone to the eating window. I don't start eating before 9 or 10 am, and stop by 8 PM (except for weekends) and that seems to do it for me! It will have been one year of maintaining on August 23 (I think - why does that date stand out in my mind? ).

Best wishes all! :clover:
I've settled into 6:1 pretty comfortably. Yesterday I was struck again by the simplicity and ease of this way of life. I had a latte in the morning, planning to not eat till dinner as usual on a fast day. Then in the mid afternoon hubs suggested a late lunch out, to celebrate being done at the dentist. I thought about this for 1/2 second, said sure, and had a lovely kale salad with pecans, cheese and pears. Then went home and didn't eat again for the rest of the day. Voila! Nice lunch out AND a successful fast day.
Well I am certainly hoping to maintain this month. I just had friends in town for the past week, and I have a two week holiday at the end of the month. so fingers crossed!
I am in a similar situation to PennyForthem, having put on 3-4lbs (of fat, not water) during holidays, but that was not surprising given what I ate (tho I was hoping all the extra exercise would compensate... Oh well).

But I am still sufficiently close to my goal weight that I consider I am in maintenance, even tho I do aim to lost those extra lbs, which I can feel around my middle...

I have continued to need 2 fasts a week since reaching goal because I have been overeating on the other days. This remains my challenge. I still aim to move to 6:1. I generally don't have breakfast, and would love to have it again, but I do believe that the longer I leave before I eat each day, the greater the benefit.

I continue to be amazed at what a wonderful weight management strategy fasting is.

Best wishes to all those maintaining and those on the way. :)

NB I haven't updated my progress tracker in ages, and the longer I leave it, the more of a pain it is to update!
I'm still within my maintenance weight - just, it has been creeping up slowly for a while but usually keeps on or below 9st 9lb just going over once, but my clothes are getting tighter too. :frown: :frown:
I had no fast days for several months but I always keep checking my weight several times a week. My goal weight is 9st 7lb but it's only been that low once since February so I'm back to fasting again, if I can get a lb or two below that it will give me a bit of leeway. I find it hard after a long break, breakfast is my favourite meal of the day so whenever I can resist eating first thing in the morning I'm going to make that a fast day. This is my second one in a couple of weeks and so far so good, I'm going to skip lunch as well. It's my granddaughter's birthday today and there's bound to be lots of goodies which I'll try to avoid as much as possible although I might have a nibble of the cake!

How true @Marybeth, I think I'll follow your example. Fairly easy to keep the weight under control if you keep your eye on the scales and tape measure once you get to your goal, but much harder to start fasting once you get out of the habit.

Well, I'm now nearly a lb lighter than I was yesterday, I've had many abandoned fast days recently but I'm back into the swing of 5:2 after two successful fasts in two weeks, and I intend to stay there. I got to my goal in July 2013 and hope to still be about the same weight in July 2015 and thereafter. I won't make the mistake of going without fasting again. Phew!
Hi everyone, I 'm still managing to maintain ok, and rarely have a 500 cal fast day now. I still eat nothing between supper and late lunch the next day at least 5 days a week and that is working fine. I had 2 weeks holiday and came back the same weight too, so I'm really pleased with that. Keeping up the exercise too which definitely helps. Good luck everybody, keep it up !
Back from 2 weeks of holiday and maintaining weight without a fast. Comes as no surprise, as we like to bike on our holidays and we usually cook our own meals when camping. The biking will account for something like 5 to 6000 additional calories burned in those two weeks, so that surely compensates leaving out fasting and eating some additional treats as well. So my advice: turn to an active holiday hobby and even holdidays can make you lose weight (and enjoy some good food as well).
I'm back from a 2 week holiday too. Weighed this morning. 2lb up. So, 2lb above target. Not too shabby, will knock that off with a couple of fasts. I did eat reasonably mindfully at meal times but let it all hang out when it came to snacks and treats. Can't go on holiday without the odd ice cream
WARNING: TOO MUCH INFORMATION!

We did a lot of walking and I got a fitbit so look out @mrstee
After purchasing some new scales that give me body fat and water I discovered that my old scales were lying to me :( only by 1lb but that was enough. Anyhow after having been tripping along merrily at 119lbs I then managed to get up to 121lbs. @rawkaren read somewhere that you advised someone to eat to TDEE and not above or below on normal days. After logging on MFP for a week this made me realise that I had been getting a bit lax and complacent so I've smartened my act up and am back to 119lbs on my new scales this morning. Yippee. Also back running 3x a week now I'm on school hols. Long live maintenance
