Weight Maintenance

11 posts Page 1 of 1
I have been posting monthly updates since reaching my target in August 2013. I had been able to maintain without fasting during the autumn but December was a challenge and I gained 3lbs. That was expected and I lost it quite easily in January when I started fasting again.

Unfortunately February has been a tough month. I haven't managed any fasts and at my weigh in today I am three pounds over target. I am disappointed but I am not going to beat myself up about it. I have thought about why this has happened when it was so easy to maintain for the first few months. My conclusions:

1. Work has been stressful: it's a new job, it's year end (I'm a Finance Director) plus some major projects are ongoing so I have worked long hours

2. It's winter and I always crave carbs at this time

I have been reading the low carb threads with interest but I don't think that it is for me just now.

My plan of action for March is to fast when I can and go back to proper 5:2 next month as spring is coming (hopefully!). The longer evenings and lighter mornings are already making me feel more energised and positive.

Wish me luck!
Good luck and thanks for sharing the your journeyxxx
Good luck and its always good to see how the "maintaineers" get on.
Well done windsinger x i think that to contain things within a three, four pound boundary means you're doing brilliantly Just keeping an eye on that should work well and dojng some regular fast and repairs will hopefully keep adding the health benefits Always keep in mind what you've lost as well as noticing any temporary gains and give yrself a big pat on the back x
You are doing really well. 3 pounds is very little and I'm sure it will all even out. You certainly have the right approach.
You and I started on this forum within a day of each other way back in January last year. Like you, I reached my target weight but having maintained from July to October, I then, unlike you, :frown: regained thirteen and a half pounds before I did anything about it!

Well done for getting onto tackling your tiny regain so swiftly and for identifying its cause. I'm sure that it will be gone in no time! :clover:
Thanks everyone

I am still weighing myself daily as I don't want this small blip to turn into a large one which is easily done. As always the support of this forum is invaluable.

I have decided to start the 30 Day Shred again as I enjoyed it when I did it last year. I have bought a second copy of the DVD, weights and a mat as I live away from home during the week for my new job so there will be no excuses!
3lbs is nothing, don't worry! I maintained and went below target for 8 months, then in December gained 4lbs...it took a while longer to lose than I'd thought but I'm back between 57 and 58 kgs now (BMI of around 19) which is where I'm happiest. Good luck with your fasting, and remember 3bs are a lot easier to lose than 13, so nip it in the bud. I swear by daily weighing.
Thanks Windsinger for keeping us updated.
I'm still not there but will be following all the forerunners tips when I do make target.
I'm sure you will get back to maintenance soon.
Great work! I wonder if I will ever get there?
Of course you will @rawkaren :like:
@windsinger123 as others have said that's a great achievement to have maintained for so long with such a small gain. I think this winter has been tough for all of us in different ways, so roll on spring!
